HKFLI’s Privacy Policy & Personal Data Collection Statement

This document is developed by applying the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong), and applicable when you access and use the website, online platform, training services and enrollment services offered by HK Finance and Legal Professional Training Institute or its affiliates (hereinafter called “HKFLI”, “We”, “Us” or “Our”) .

Under this Privacy Policy & Personal Data Collection Statement (hereinafter referred to as “Privacy Policy”), our website located at www.hkfli.com shall be hereinafter referred to as “website”, and the website’s entire contents and functions (including but not limited to, all information, software, text, displays, images, video, audio, design, and any documentation pertaining to the foregoing hereinafter) shall be collectively referred to as the “Platform”. All services and products, including the online or offline continuous professional development (“CPD”) training program accredited by relevant authorized approvers (including but not limited to the Law Society of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications or etc.) that are accessible through the Platform shall be collectively referred to as the “Services”.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice to you. The revised Privacy Policy shall take effect immediately when it is posted on our Platform or HKFLI’s website. If you do not accept any changes of the revised Privacy Policy, do not access or use the Platform and/or Services.

SECTION 1 – COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

We receive from the following types of data and information (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Personal Data”) about you:

  1. data required when you sign up for our Platform and/or Services (such as, your full name, correspondence address, email and phone number.)

  2. data received from or about your computer, mobile phone, or other device used to access or use the website, Platform and/or the Services (such as IP address or mobile phone number, and other information about the operating system, location, the type of the device or browser used, referral source, length of visit and number of pages viewed, etc.)

  3. information relating to any transactions carried out between you and us, including information relating to your purchases of our Services

  4. your personal details, academic records, training status and etc. we received during your enrollment and use of our Platform and/or Services

Failure to supply the abovementioned Personal Data may cause us to become unable to approve your registration, access and use of our Platform and/or Services.

SECTION 2 – USING PURPOSES OF PERSONAL DATA

As the “Data Subject” of your own personal data, we will keep your personal data confidential and handle according to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance for the following purposes:

  1. processing your payment of fee for the access and use of our Services, including online CPD courses

  2. providing you with the Services, including online CPD courses

  3. generating your Completion Certificate after you complete an online CPD course via our Platform

  4. communicating with you in relation to the website, Platform and/or Services

  5. development the website, Platform and/or Services by referring to your preference

  6. monitoring the performance of the website, Platform and/or Services

  7. promoting Services and new features of the Platform provided by us or our affiliate companies

  8. fulfilling any obligations under laws and requirements applicable to HKFLI and HKFLI’s affiliate companies

  9. purposes relating thereto

You may opt-out of receiving HKFLI or HKFLI’s affiliate companies’ marketing messages (pursuant to point 7 above) at any time by sending us email. Within 10 working days upon receiving your notice, we shall formally acknowledge receipt and cease sending you any relevant materials.

SECTION 3 – USER AND TRANSFEE OF PERSONAL DATA

Personal data held by us or our affiliate companies may provide such information to the following parties (whether within or outside Hong Kong) for the purposes set out in Section 2 above:

  1. any agents, contractors, sub-contractors, service providers or associates of HKFLI or its affiliate companies (including their employees, directors, officers, agents, contractors, service providers, and professional advisers)

  2. any third party service provider (including their employees, directors and officers) who provides administrative, information technology support computer, payment or other services to HKFLI or its affiliate companies in connection with the operation of the website, the Platform and/or the Services

  3. any regulators or enforcement agents

  4. any person under a duty of confidentiality to HKFLI or its affiliate

SECTION 4 –RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA

We will ensure our collection, retention and processing of data is proportionate. We will strike an appropriate balance to ensure that we process sufficient data to carry on our business and achieve any specified lawful purposes, while making sure that we do not collect, retain or process excessive amounts of data.

We will retain your personal data for so long as is necessary to enable it to fulfill the original purpose (or a directly related purpose) of collection, or any other purpose to which you have consented.

SECTION 5 – DATA ACCESS REQUESTS

You are entitled to request access to and correct your own personal data delivered and maintained by us. Any data access and correction request should be made and sent by e-mail to info@hkfli.com or by post to Office 5, 12/F, Fortune Commercial Building, 362 Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.

We may charge a reasonable fee for processing a data access request

SECTION 6 – COOKIES

We may gather the following information through the use of "cookies". Cookies are small bits of information that are automatically stored on your web browser in your computer, mobile phone or other device for accessing the Internet ("device") that can be retrieved by the website or our Platform. Cookies will

  • record your visit to the website or our Platform for analysing the number of visitors to the website or our Platform, users’ general usage patterns

  • allow us to recognize your device and will store information about your personalized settings (such as language preference, useful links settings) and your use of the website or our Platform, thus enabling us to provide more useful features to you, to tailor the content of our website and Platform to suit your interests

If you prefer, you can, during your visit at the website and/or our Platform, set your browser to disable cookies or to inform you when they are set. By disabling cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of the website and/or our Platform.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy shall limit your rights as the data subject of your personal data under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
