Living with pets has become more and more common in Hong Kong. Pet owners treasure their pets and treat them as family members, pet owners purchasing pet insurances for their beloved pets become an important growth engineer in the insurance industry.
The purpose of pet insurance is to minimise the overall cost of veterinary expenses to pet owners in the event their beloved dogs or cats are injured or becomes ill. Essentially, it helps ensure pet owners aren't caught out financially should the unexpected happen.
For sure, this course will explain in details the coverage and exclusion of typical pet insurance plans available in the market, e.g., medical benefit, third party liabilities, as well as funeral services, advertisement of missing pets and etc.
This course will also focus on the restrictions of typical pet insurance policies, e.g., the difficulties of renewing insurance for aging pets, the potential legal responsibilities when pet dogs hurting third parties and etc.
This course will also talk about how pet owners can protect their interests as consumers, for example, what if the body condition of a baby cat is bad after it is just purchased from the pet shop, what if if the pet is wounded during pet glooming.
Course Outline
Not all beloved pets can be covered by pet insurance policies. For example, dogs of specific breeds may not be protected, or pet owners need to pay higher premium otherwise.
The course will also list out the restrictions of typical pet insurance policies, e.g.,
- waiting period after the commencement of the policy
- entry age of the pets, and the limitation of renewing policies
- the design of compensation package may different from policy to policy
