All employers in Hong Kong know they need to purchase suitable insurance policies to protect their domestic helpers, but it is not uncommon employers does not know what are their underlying legal responsibilities to purchase insurance policies, and to what extent the insurance policies protect them whenever the domestic helpers suffer injury or occupational disease.
One of the focus of this course is to elaborate the employer's responsibility under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance owed to domestic workers, including the indemnity amounts paid to domestic workers in correlation to their situation after suffering inury or occupational disease in the course of work.
